Nothing saved. Really.
No account, no recordings, no cookies, no analytics. Here’s exactly how Subt handles your conversations.
Overview
Subt is run by Nilesh Madhavji, a sole trader in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use Subt on the web at subt.app or in the iPhone app.
The short version: Subt never records or stores audio, never saves what was said, and has no accounts, tracking or adverts.
What we don’t collect
- We never record or store audio.
- We never save what was said. Captions disappear when you stop or close Subt.
- There are no accounts, so we hold no names, emails or passwords for using Subt.
- We show no adverts and do no tracking.
How speech is turned into captions
iPhone app
The app uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Your voice is processed on your phone and is not sent to Apple, to us or to anyone else.
Website
On subt.app, speech recognition is provided by your browser, and how it works depends on which browser you use. Chrome and Edge send audio to their makers’ speech services; Safari may use Apple’s system. That processing happens under the browser maker’s own privacy policy, not ours.
Microphone access
Subt asks for microphone access only when you tap the mic button, and only listens while you’re captioning. You can turn microphone access off at any time in your phone or browser settings.
Contact
If you have a question about privacy, email support@subt.app.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Subt handles your information, we’ll update this page and the date below.
